Grapevine angler pulls for pro

"If you make the Classic, your life will never be the same as a bass fisherman" GRAPEVINE -- For most people, a day of fishing on a Texas lake means relaxation. For Ryan Evans, it's more like going to work. In fact, he hopes to make competitive bass fishing a full-time job. Evans, of Grapevine, recently landed a major win in the Bass Anglers Sportsman Society Bassmaster Central Division open tournament on the Red River in Shreveport. On the line were a $32,000 Triton bass boat and a purse of $1,900. For eight hours a day June 14-16, he threw hundreds of casts to reel in 29 pounds of fish. On the final day, he pulled in a total of 18 pounds, with the largest weighing 5 pounds, 12 ounces. When the tournament was over, Evans prevailed in the co-angler division, defeating 158 other fishermen to claim the boat, the purse and his first tournament victory. Read more
